Marvin Phillips, who retired from the Garnett Road Church of Christ on June 30, 1996 after 26 years of service.

Phillips, whose career was highlighted in Your Community World shortly before his retirement, was a driving force behind the growth of the church since its humble beginnings in 1970 when it met in a school gym.

 

Besides preaching each Sunday, Phillips also oversaw an annual Tulsa International Soul Winning Workshop held in Tulsa, founded two foreign ministries, started a side career as a positive speaker, hosted a weekly local TV show and published five books.

Marvin's dynamic speaking ability coupled with his love for the Lord made him a much sought after speaker among the churches of Christ.
